Reading the Question Carefully
This pdf will help you understand the key 'task' words in your assessment questions.
Assignment Cover sheet
Word Count
It is generally acceptable to be 10% above or below the specified word count of an assignment (E.g. A 2000 word assignment can be between 1800 and 2200 words). If your word count falls out of this scope (i.e. is more than 10% over or under) then it is probable that you have not answered the question appropriately and may be penalised.
Unless advised by the lecturer, the word count generally does not include:
- Title and contents page
- Footnotes
- Longer passages quoted from Scripture that are indented
- Bibliography
If your assignment is too short, then you need to explain your ideas more fully. If your assignment is too large, then you need to be more concise and avoid repetition.
Abstract Writing
Late Assessments
Late assessments will not be accepted, you will receive a zero grade if your assessment is late.Requests for the extension of an assessment task deadline will only be granted on the following grounds: 1) Medical illness (certified by Doctor’s Certificate); 2) Extreme Hardship; 3) Compassionate Grounds. Students are to complete the “Request for Extension of Assignment Deadline Form”. This form must be completed no less than 48 hours before the assignment is due. The form can be located online here.

Referencing & Plagiarism
We require that all students studying at AC complete the Plagiarism Test below.
Students must receive at least 90% on this quiz and must record the date that they achieved this grade on the cover page of all assignments for this subject.
e.g.: "100% achieved on Plagiarism Test 2/9/2011". If you do not achieve at least 90% on your first attempt at the quiz you can re-do the test as many times as you need. Students who are then found to be plagiarising in an assignment will receive an automatic fail grade for that assessment task.
